Happy 6th Birthday Adeline

At times, I am jealous of her spontaneity and carefree attitude.  She lives in the moment not thinking of the next.  She has a Can-Do attitude.  She is decisive with everything and smart with her money.  She "rolls" with everything life throws at her.  The little things make her so happy.  Her smile is contagious and dimples so sweet.  She has unbelievable God given highlights.  She has a sister that takes care of her, consoles her, makes her laugh and cry.  She's the life of the party.  She sees everything as an adventure.

She's what I want to be when I grow up.

May you always keep your spunk and live in the moment as you do now.  Happy 6th Birthday Bubbaloo!

Rockin Six

It feels like Bubba has been 5 forever!  All her friends turned 6 months ago so it was finally her turn.  Winter break started on the 19th, so we had to paint the school rock early for her.  This was the first time we were able to paint on a weekend not fighting the darkness.  Luckily we beat the rain and I was able to take some pictures with my phone, but I never got back to take some good ones with Addy and Evelyn due to two straight days of rain.  By the time it stopped, someone was already painting over it.

Greta Visits Bubbaloo

Other than a dimple in a cute little chin,
What's more adorable than a toothless grin?
~Azu "Betty" Espezia

It was a exciting day in our house yesterday (Oct 22).  Bubbaloo lost her very first tooth! She was so excited but nervous too, as the tooth fairy would need to be making an appearance in her room at night while she slept. Scary! Big Sis had to do her part and write a note asking questions to the fairy.  Evelyn even put $6 of her own money on Addy's bed stand as a special gift.  All went well and like clockwork, fairy Greta flew in with $5 tied with pink ribbon and sprinkled with fairy dust. She took the time to answer Big Sis's questions and left the tooth for Mommy and Daddy.

Goodbye Preschool

For four years, Addy has walked the halls of her preschool; playing, learning, making friends. Today...she graduated.  Ok, no cap and gown, just a really cute program to send them off and a party at the park afterwards.  Unfortunately, I had a terrible seat and forgot my flash so my pictures are weak to say the least. By the way, they were pirates, singing the Pirate Song, and even though I would have preferred cap and gown, they were pretty darn cute!

JDRF Walk 2012

What an amazing day!  Our 2nd year participating in the JDRF Walk was a big success.  We were so honored to have so many family and friends walk with us this year.  It truly made the day even more special.  I only wish I got a group shot with everyone in it.  This years total, $7,255!

Beater. Batter. Bowl.

Sissy has been busy all weekend with sleepovers, Girl Scouts & Soccer, so Addy has been in need of some "Special" treatment.  So we decided to throw caution to the wind and make some cookies for one reason...To Lick the Spoon.  Diabetes has taken away all the spontaneity of out life when it comes to food. Any food.  The best memories I have of making yummy treats with my mom is who gets the spoon or beater.  My brothers and I would all fight for who gets what.  Since Addy was diagnosed, that fun part of baking has been trashed.

Well, today Mommy felt bad that Sissy was having all the fun this weekend and we splurged.  Carbs? Who knows.  I just guessed and loaded her up before I let the licking begin.  Of course she turned licks into spoonfuls, finger swipes and bowl scraping.  It was so fun to watch her enjoy such a simple thing. Something everyone else takes for granted.

In her words, "This is the best day ever".  Really?  But sometimes, that is as simple as this kid needs.  Love you Addy. Today you made me remember how much the small stuff really does matter.

Bubba finally turns 5

It does seem like yesterday that we were bringing our sweet 2nd child home from the hospital, but in the same thought, her fourth year seemed to go on and on.  Maybe because all of her friends had turned 5 already and she looked like she was older. I don't know, but on the 22nd, she finally turned 5.  We hit the road and headed to Asheville for the night.  The girls just love to stay in hotels so that was a perfect way to celebrate.  Also, a way for me to get to the Grove Park Inn and check out the National Gingerbread House contest. The hotel was the Hotel Indigo and it was pretty standard but they made Addy's stay so sweet.  They had a balloon and ribbon on our door and a plate of cookies and candy canes waiting for her.  Something so simple, she didn't want to leave the hotel to go eat or sight-see. Just jump on the beds and roll around on the desk chair.  Happy 5th Addy!
