100 Years Old

Evelyn writes stories all the time. They always bring a smile, smirk, and usually a loud laugh out.  I thought I would share this.  It is funny to be able to see what a child thinks of something. A glimpse into their thoughts. Thoughts of being old.

If I was 100 years old I would have crutches and stay inside all day and watch TV. I would have gray hair and big old bumps on my face. I would look very old.  I would watch boring TV shows and knit blankets and sweaters.  I would have a very little house.  My neighbor will visit me every day.  They will help me too!

Our Terrific Kid

I am so behind on my blog and have so much to tell and show you, but I wanted to start with the latest news.

Evelyn was selected for a Terrific Kid Award.  Each month, Evelyn’s school picks one kid from each class (1st –5th grade) as a terrific kid.  This months character trait is Compassion.  Evelyn shows this in many ways home and at school.

According to Merriam-Webster, compassion is defined as: "Sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it."

Making the decision and acting upon the decision is how compassion is brought into action. Compassion involves action and smart decisions.

At the award breakfast this morning, Evelyn’s teacher noted one specific instance when Evelyn noticed a classmate didn’t have a snack at snack-time. She saw his sadness and asked him if he would like to share hers.

Evelyn has come a long way from her crazy tantrum, head-banging toddler days.  We know she has many good traits, but are so proud of her virtue. You ARE a terrific kid!

School Parties

Both the girls had small Halloween/Fall parties at school and were allowed to wear their costumes. Addy tagged along with me to Evelyn’s. I was worried she would be her nutty self and out of control, but she surprised me and was extremely behaved. Who knew!

My First’s First Day of First Grade

Well today was the big day. Summer is over and school is back in session. Evelyn bounced out of bed and was quickly ready to get to school. This of course will all change but I greatly enjoyed her enthusiasm. We did take her to the doctor yesterday because she had been complaining all weekend that her throat and tongue hurt. Doctor said it is just viral and will run its course.  Bubba is missing her already but will be distracted by gymnastics this morning.  She is starting a new class at a new location. Looking forward to seeing her in action with her two friends Riley and Emelia. Hopefully I will be able to take pictures and share with you.
