I think we are finally done celebrating Addy’s 3rd birthday. How many birthday celebrations does a girl need? Apparently 5. One at school, one with her neighbor friends, one with us, one with Grandma, Papa, Uncle Dave & cousin David, and another with Brian’s family. Maybe we can get it down to two next year.

Daisy Girl
One of the many things I’ve forgotten to tell you is Evelyn is a Girl Scout. She is only been in for two months and at her age they call them Daisy’s. Next up: Brownies, but we will have to wait and see if she sticks with it until then. For now, she is having fun, learning self esteem, understanding the need for charity and compassion, and making new friends. Tuesday night was their first badge ceremony (for memorizing the Girl Scout Promise) and Christmas party where they exchanged gifts and presented their first donation to the charity they picked, SAFE Animal Haven.

Traditions
Every Thanksgiving we or a family member pick up a gingerbread kit for the girls to put together. This year was not different, minus a couple of our main helpers. Apparently, Addy had a mini tantrum with the box and broke the roof before they even got started. Never fear, Grandpa worked his carpentry magic and fixed it. By the next morning, the supports came off and the broken roof was history.

Mad Scientist and Crafter
Evelyn was in need of some 1-on-1 attention after G-ma and G-pa’s departure. So during Addys nap went through the craft closet and pulled out some crafts and science projects she hadn’t done before.
With a little vinegar, baking soda, canister and …
A Mad Scientist
You Get… A Canister Cannon
Then on to the crafts. After making a couple Christmas cards from scratch, we grabbed some t-shirts and iron on transfers and viola! New shirts for the girls.
Grove Park Inn
Much needed
Much appreciated
Much in awe of
Much relaxation
Much reconnecting
Much wanting to go back
Brian and I snuck away for two nights to The Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC while Grandma and Grandpa stayed with the girls. We haven’t been on a vacation or mini-getaway just the two of us in I can remember how long. Leaving the girls in great hands, we headed to Blowing Rock first for lunch, a quick stop at one of our favorite antique shops and one of our favorite ice cream shops Kilwins. Second to Ben and Bill’s in Bar Harbor, ME. Wait, I think I just remembered the last time we got away together, Maine!
We had a great time, eating, relaxing, sitting by the enormous fireplaces, checking out the winning gingerbread houses from the National Gingerbread Contest, and spending the most amazing time in the Spa. See for yourself. Not sure there is a more relaxing place. Unfortunately, you can’t take pictures in the spa.
My pictures wont do Grove Park justice. I was rainy and the famous red roof was under construction. You will just have to visit for yourself. We will again!
